Spain is a gluten-free paradise especially in the Costa Blanca region. During my recent stay in Orxeta, I visited Benidorm, Albir, Altea, and Alicante, and was amazed by how coeliac-friendly the food scene was. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or a seasoned gluten-free traveller, these are the spots you need to try.

🥞 1. The Brunch Box – Benidorm

Pro Tip: Let them know in advance if you want pancakes they make fresh batter and can’t always accommodate walk-ins.

Albir is a lovely beach town, and MP Restaurant made me feel like I was back in Naples. Highly recommend!

Great for a day trip from Benidorm
Altea is magical just past Albir. You’ll find lots of smaller restaurants that understand coeliac needs (always use your card to double-check). Don’t miss the views and sea breeze!

Affordable & friendly
This place is a MUST if you’re in Alicante. I stocked up on pastries, savoury snacks, and the best churros I’ve had in years.
✈️ Final Thoughts: Travelling with Coeliac in Spain
Spain is easily one of the most gluten-free friendly countries I’ve visited. The awareness, labelling, and options are fantastic even in fast food chains.
Don’t let coeliac disease stop you from seeing the world. With some planning, a few go-to apps, and your Travel Cards, you can dine out with confidence.
