My First Time at the Free From Food Festival London 2024 – A Coeliac’s Dream Day Out!

Updated: May 11

This year I attended my first ever Free From Food Festival and WOW, it did not disappoint! Held in Woolwich, near Greenwich, it was only about an hour’s drive for me, and parking was easy with lots of nearby options. As a coeliac, it truly felt like a one-stop shop for all things gluten free, and I couldn’t wait to explore everything on offer.

📝 My Top Coeliac Tips for Attending

1. Get there EARLY!I had an 11:00 AM ticket and arrived 30 minutes early thankfully! By 10:50, the queue was massive and wrapped down the street. While it did move quickly, arriving early saved a lot of waiting around.

2. Bring a tote or shopping bag!I completely forgot a bag for all my goodies, which made things a bit tricky. Thankfully, one stall was handing out bags with purchases, but definitely bring your own to make life easier!

3. Come hungry and ready to treat yourself.Yes, it can be a little pricey but it’s so worth it. There’s an amazing mix of hot food to eat on the day and products to take home. You’ll want to try everything, so come with an appetite and maybe even skip breakfast!

🍩 My Festival Favourites:

🥐 Manna Dew – Hands down one of the most popular stalls, especially in the morning. The queue grew quickly and for good reason! Their gluten free pastries are next-level.

🥧 Beaky Blinders – A hidden gem! They had both sweet and savoury GF pastries. Their sausage roll (warmed up) was chef’s kiss!

🍩 Borough 22 Donuts – This stall had a constant queue every time I passed by. Their donuts are THAT good totally worth the wait.

🥯 The Gluten Free Bakery – My first time trying freshly made GF bread! I picked up a baguette and 5 bagels. Top tip: toast the bagels game changer!

🍕 Good F'ing Pizza – Easily the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had. Thin, crispy, cheesy perfection.

🎉 Final Thoughts

If you’ve never been to the Free From Food Festival before, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s busy, yes but it’s also so worth it. Just arrive early, wear comfy shoes, bring a bag, and embrace the queues you’ll leave with a full belly and full heart.
