Why Itās One of the Best Chain Restaurants for Coeliacs
This week I revisited one of my all-time favourite chain restaurants Pizza ExpressĀ and honestly, it never disappoints. For anyone with coeliac disease, eating out can be stressful, but Pizza Express makes it safe, easy, and delicious.

Why Pizza Express is Coeliac-Friendly
Accredited by Coeliac UKĀ ā This means they follow strict preparation processes and staff are trained to reduce cross-contamination.
Allergy MenuĀ ā When I arrived, the host immediately asked about dietary needs. After explaining Iām coeliac, I was given an allergy checklist menu, which clearly outlines what's safe.
Cross Contamination ProtocolsĀ ā From kitchen prep to serving methods, Pizza Express takes it seriously.
š Gluten Free Options at Pizza Express
Hereās what you can enjoy completely gluten free:
Starters
Gluten Free Dough BallsĀ with garlic butter (delicious, but you only get 5 compared to 8 in the regular version⦠not sure why? š¤)
Mains
Gluten Free Pizza BasesĀ for both RomanaĀ and ClassicĀ pizzas. Made in their dedicated gluten free bakery. Served on a black boardĀ to avoid confusion. Plus: You get your own pizza cutterĀ to reduce cross-contamination!
Gluten Free Penne PastaĀ made from rice flour (Bonus: They use only rice flour in the kitchenĀ for dusting to prevent cross-contamination.)
I ordered a gluten free Margherita with hamĀ and it was amazing!
Dessert
Chocolate BrownieĀ (gluten free and SO good ā although I didnāt have room this time)
If youāve not been to Pizza Express in a while, or youāve never gone since your coeliac diagnosis this is your sign to go!Itās coeliac-friendly, reliable, and the food is genuinely tasty.
