Why Itâs One of the Best Chain Restaurants for Coeliacs
This week I revisited one of my all-time favourite chain restaurants Pizza Express and honestly, it never disappoints. For anyone with coeliac disease, eating out can be stressful, but Pizza Express makes it safe, easy, and delicious.

Why Pizza Express is Coeliac-Friendly
Accredited by Coeliac UKÂ â This means they follow strict preparation processes and staff are trained to reduce cross-contamination.
Allergy Menu â When I arrived, the host immediately asked about dietary needs. After explaining Iâm coeliac, I was given an allergy checklist menu, which clearly outlines what's safe.
Cross Contamination Protocols â From kitchen prep to serving methods, Pizza Express takes it seriously.
đ Gluten Free Options at Pizza Express
Hereâs what you can enjoy completely gluten free:
Starters
Gluten Free Dough Balls with garlic butter (delicious, but you only get 5 compared to 8 in the regular version⊠not sure why? đ€)
Mains
Gluten Free Pizza Bases for both Romana and Classic pizzas. Made in their dedicated gluten free bakery. Served on a black board to avoid confusion. Plus: You get your own pizza cutter to reduce cross-contamination!
Gluten Free Penne Pasta made from rice flour (Bonus: They use only rice flour in the kitchen for dusting to prevent cross-contamination.)
I ordered a gluten free Margherita with ham and it was amazing!
Dessert
Chocolate Brownie (gluten free and SO good â although I didnât have room this time)
If youâve not been to Pizza Express in a while, or youâve never gone since your coeliac diagnosis this is your sign to go!Itâs coeliac-friendly, reliable, and the food is genuinely tasty.
